Zee Syed is a Partner in Aleshire & Wynder's Oakland office, where she provides strategic labor and employment counsel to the firm’s clients throughout California. She advises public agencies on personnel matters, policy development, and regulatory compliance, and represents them in administrative hearings and appeals.
Zee has extensive experience conducting workplace investigations and is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (AWI-CH). She regularly advises clients on the full arc of workplace conflict, from early intervention and policy development through the investigation process and into disciplinary proceedings and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Aleshire & Wynder, Zee practiced at a public agency law firm in Sacramento, where she developed her focus on California public sector labor and employment law. Earlier in her career, she represented California state employees in personnel matters before state agencies and served as an internal investigator at a large California public university. Zee’s experience informs both her investigative practice and her understanding of the institutional challenges facing public employers.
Zee also brings a distinctive perspective on artificial intelligence to her practice. She has served as a legal domain subject matter expert for major AI companies, testing and benchmarking frontier language models on legal reasoning and accuracy. She leverages that firsthand experience to help clients develop sound AI policies, adopt best practices for responsible use, and manage the legal risks that accompany AI integration in the workplace.
