David Aleshire and Anthony Taylor Named 2015 "California Lawyer" Attorney of the Year

Partners David J. Aleshire and Anthony R. Taylor received the annual 2015 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year award.  They were honored among 62 lawyers throughout the state for their legal work which had a significant impact in 2014.  Award recipients will be honored in the March 2015 issue of California Lawyer

Chapman University to Revisit the City of Bell Scandal

David Aleshire and Anthony Taylor will be among the panelists at a conference at Chapman University on, “The City of Bell Scandal Revisited.”  This conference on February 19, 2015 is free and open to the public, including lunch and an evening reception.  Panelists will include elected officials, academics, citizen activists and attorneys, and journalists

Founding Partner, Bill Wynder, Takes Two Year Leave to Serve Church in Ohio

Founding partner, William “Bill” Wynder, and his wife, Carol F. Wynder, have accepted a two-year assignment to serve as the Directors of the “Kirtland, Ohio, Visitor Center & Historic Sites,” for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Mormons”).  Bill and Carol will oversee the public exhibition of a visitor center and nine restored historic properties. 

Christy Marie Lopez Re-Elected President of SCAN NATOA

For the second time, Christy Marie Lopez, Senior Associate at Aleshire & Wynder, was elected President-Elect of the States of California and Nevada chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (“SCAN NATOA”).  Ms. Lopez served as President of SCAN NATOA during the 2013-2014 term, and will return to the position for the 2015-2016 term.

Julie Biggs to Speak on Brown Act and Public Records Act

Julie Hayward Biggs will be a featured panelist at the  2014 Public Records Act and Brown Act Conference.  The conference, which will be held on May 30, 2014 at Hastings School of Law, is sponsored by the State Bar of California.  Ms. Biggs will be presenting overviews of both the Brown Act and the Public Records Act for attorneys interested and practicing in those areas of law.  

June Ailin to Speak at LA County Bar Association Program on Local Economic Development

On February 12, 2014, the Land Use, Planning and Environment Subsection of the Los Angeles County Bar Association  will host a program titled, “Emerging Opportunities and Best Practices for Local Economic Development.”  The program will feature important updates on local economic development efforts, as well as changes in the law, including:

-Changes in Federal and State law affecting Economic Development

-Long-Range Property Management Plans and the wind-down of redevelopment agencies

-New City of Los Angeles initiatives to foster economic development; and
