July 23, 2014 --
For the second time, Christy Marie Lopez, Senior Associate at Aleshire & Wynder, was elected President-Elect of the States of California and Nevada chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (“SCAN NATOA”). Ms. Lopez served as President of SCAN NATOA during the 2013-2014 term, and will return to the position for the 2015-2016 term.
SCAN NATOA is the leading non-profit professional organization serving local governments and regional authorities in the development, regulation, and administration of cable franchises and other telecommunications services. SCAN NATOA offers educational conferences and training seminars to its members in order to share information between local governments and discuss important telecommunications issues. SCAN NATOA also represents the interests of its members before the Federal Communications Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission and with amicus support in pending litigation.
In her first term as President, Ms. Lopez chaired the 18th Annual Spring Conference and STAR Awards, and moderated the keynote panel on Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) channel issues. Conference attendance increased 23% from the previous year, and participants travelled from six different states to attend the event at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
Ms. Lopez looks forward to another term as President of SCAN NATOA and will continue to advocate on behalf of local governments and agencies in the telecommunications field.
